"For Home" Cupping Therapy Course
Cupping sets are widely available online, but many online tutorials teach unsafe and ineffective techniques. In this course, we will show you how to deliver safe and effective cupping treatments.
But there’s more—we’ll teach you the original method of fire and glass cupping, a technique far superior to plastic vacuum sets. We’ll explain why on the day of training.
Course Requirements:
You must pre-purchase the fire and glass cupping set used during training. It costs £50 (retail price is £70, but we offer a £20 discount for students). If attending as a group of two, each student needs their own set.
We teach you the same professional techniques we use to train bodyworkers. After completing the course, you will receive a certificate of completion showing you can confidently use this new skill with friends and family. Please note, this is not an official qulaification.
What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping therapy dates back to ancient China. The earliest records describe the work of Ge Hong (281-341 AD), who said:
“Acupuncture and cupping, more than half of the ills cured.”
Today, cupping remains a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), alongside acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal remedies.
In sports and complementary therapy, cupping addresses issues such as:
- Muscle pain
- Fascia and structural problems
- Pain relief
- Improved range of motion
- General well-being
For trained practitioners, cupping is time-efficient and delivers excellent results.
How Does Cupping Work?
Cupping creates a partial vacuum using heat or suction in glass cups placed on the skin. This process lifts the soft tissue, stretches the fascia, and creates a therapeutic stretch effect.
- The cup remains on the skin for a few minutes, allowing blood stasis to form and localized healing to occur.
Further Uses of Cupping
In TCM philosophy, cupping therapy helps open the meridians—channels where energy (“Qi”) flows throughout the body. Five key meridians on the back, when opened, can invigorate energy flow and treat the entire body holistically.
Cupping can also:
- Affect tissues up to 4 inches deep
- Release toxins
- Activate the lymphatic system
- Improve blood flow in veins, arteries, and capillaries
- Stimulate the skin
- Reduce stretch marks and varicose veins
This versatile technique provides deep tissue manipulation that is safe, effective, and easy to learn.
